The Anthroposheen (poem)

The Anthroposheen

Like that crisp packet you scoffed and chucked

On the fire reminds you of being young

Sucking up, shrivelling back, before that last

Flash of silver-sided, fat-acid gleam

That´s you and me in the Anthroposheen.

Me and you in the Anthroposheen

Sucking happily back in our one-bed flat

On piped in media, assorted trans-fats,

Loving each other like the last pair of twats,

Saying, in turns, well at least we can laugh.

You and me and the last laugh we had

Going back a bit now, I mean, really, way back

When the adipose oodles them fuel barons spaffed

Kept us dumb and happy, stoopid and glad,

They were good times, at least, they sure seemed like that.

Me and you, at least, seem built to outlast

Your red eyes, my red face, we make a good team,

Too wired to sleep, too dozy to dream,

Curdling together, our side of the screen:

That´s me and you in the Anthroposheen.
